It has been decided.

Mets ace Justin Verlander will make his rehab start for the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Friday.

Verlander is expected to throw between three and four innings in this outing. If all goes well, the three-time Cy Young Award winner will rejoin the Mets afterward.

Should Verlander be activated from the IL following his rehab start, this would put him in line to pitch on Wednesday, May 3 against his former team in the Detroit Tigers.

Verlander has been on the IL since Opening Day with a teres major strain. He has yet to make his Mets debut after signing a two-year, $86 million deal in the offseason.

Verlander threw 43 pitches in a live batting practice session on Sunday and felt good. His last step will be to get through his rehab start without any hiccups before rejoining the Mets.
