Mets Land Five Prospects in New MLB Top 100 List

Two of the New York Mets' Top 100 prospects just joined the organization via trades at the deadline.

The New York Mets have five Top 100 prospects per MLB.com, as the site re-ranked its Top 100 prospects after the first four months of the season and the 2023 MLB Draft.

Of the five prospects, one is at Triple-A, two are at Double-A, one is at High Class-A.

The top-ranked prospect is one the Mets just acquired, infielder Luisangel Acuña, who comes in at No. 40 overall. The Mets received Acuña, the younger brother of Atlanta start Ronald Acuña Jr., in the trade that sent pitcher Max Scherzer to the Texas Rangers.

The Mets assigned him to Double-A Binghamton and he’s projected as a 2024 call-up.

Another recent acquisition is outfielder Drew Gilbert, who is also at Binghamton and is No. 57 in the new rankings. The Mets acquired him from the Houston Astros in a trade for pitcher Justin Verlander. The former Tennessee slugger is considered a potential 2025 call-up.

Jett Williams, an infielder and outfielder, is No. 84 and is now at High Class-A Brooklyn. He was recently promoted and hit his first home run with the Cyclones. The Mets’ first-round pick last year is projected to be a 2026 call-up.

Ronny Mauricio, who can play infield and outfield, is No. 93 and is at Triple-A Syracuse. Signed for $2.1 million out of the Dominican Republic in 2017, he could be a Mets call up this season.

Catcher Kevin Parada is No. 96 and is with Brooklyn. Another Mets first-round pick, the former Georgia Tech star is projected to be a 2025 call-up.
