A veteran reinforcement.

On Thursday, the Mets signed right-handed pitcher Dominic Leone to a one-year major league contract after he opted out of his deal with the Texas Rangers earlier in the week.

Leone, 31, pitched to a 4.01 ERA in 55 games for the San Francisco Giants last season.

Leone had a 1.59 ERA in eight appearances in Triple-A for Texas this season.

The righty is the latest addition the Mets have made to their bullpen, as they look to complement high-leverage arms: David Robertson, Adam Ottavino, Brooks Raley and Drew Smith.

Raley is on the IL with left elbow inflammation.

The Mets optioned John Curtiss and Zach Muckenhirn to Triple-A Syracuse to clear room for Leone and Justin Verlander.

In order to create room on the 40-man roster for Leone, the Mets moved catcher Omar Narvaez to the 60-day IL.
