He’s gone.

On Friday, the New York Mets traded third baseman Eduardo Escobar to the Los Angeles Angels for minor league pitchers Coleman Crow and Landon Marceaux.

Escobar was benched earlier in the season for top prospect third baseman Brett Baty.

The pair of pitchers that the Mets landed are both at the double-A level.

The Mets signed Escobar to a two-year, $20 million deal in November of 2021.

Although Escobar lost his job, he was considered to be one of the veteran leaders in the Mets clubhouse.

Escobar was hitting .236 with four home runs, 16 RBI and a .695 OPS this season.

Last year, Escobar cracked 20 homers, drove in 69 RBI and posted a .725 OPS.

The pitchers that the Mets acquired could help them at the major league level sooner rather than later.

The Mets are paying the rest of Escobar’s salary. He is owed $5 million on his deal.

Crow was the No. 17 ranked prospect in the Angels’ system. Marceaux was the No. 20 ranked prospect.

Crow had a 1.88 ERA this season and has made four starts.
