It's still bothering him.

After undergoing double groin surgery in the offseason, New York Mets outfielder Starling Marte has endured a horrid year statistically.

In 84 games, the 34-year-old is slashing .254/.308/.332 with a .640 OPS, five home runs and 28 RBIs.

Well, according to Abbey Mastracco of The New York Daily News, Marte says his offseason surgery is still affecting him, specifically at the plate.

“It’s affecting me more in my hitting,” Marte told the Daily News through translator Alan Suriel. “I can’t lie and say it’s affecting my running, because that’s not how I feel at the very moment, but at the same time, we’re working every day and we’re doing everything we need to do to make it better.”

As Marte admitted, the groin is keeping him from getting the rotation he needs at the plate. It has also hindered his ability to use his hips and access his power, which is why he has an anemic 13 extra-base hits this season.

The Mets signed Marte to a four-year, $78 million deal in the 2021-2022 offseason. Year-one went great for him, as he made the All-Star team and was a mainstay in the No. 2 hole.

Unfortunately, Marte's offseason double groin surgery has essentially derailed his second season in Queens.

With the Mets season all but lost, the hope is that Marte can get healthy again in order to be ready and effective by next year. For now, he is still playing through some discomfort and his statistics have shown for it.
