The San Diego Padres initially had to play without their star player, Fernando Tatis Jr., for a few games due to an 80-game suspension that trickled into this season. However, it didn't take long for Tatis Jr. to find his rhythm and become a consistent force for the team. He has showcased his dominance on the baseball field since he entered the league and has emerged as one of the most explosive hitters in recent memory. What sets Tatis Jr. apart is his remarkable versatility, not just in his performance on the field but also in his adaptability to different batting positions in the lineup.

Padres manager Bob Melvin has made some tweaks to the lineup by putting his righty slugger second. Although it may mess up other players, it didn't faze Tatis Jr. Melvin recently spoke highly of Tatis Jr. during an interview with Padres insider Kevin Acee, comparing him to two other elite hitters in today's game: Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman.

“He’s a premier guy,” Melvin said. “He can change the game, and if we’re getting somebody on base in front of him, he can do it in a hurry. I think that’s what you’re seeing in guys like (the Angels’ Shoei) Ohtani and (the Dodgers’ Freddie) Freeman and guys like that. The two spot comes up, it seems like, an extra time, and typically you’ll have an extra guy on base.”

Ohtani and Freeman are widely regarded as two of the most dangerous bats in baseball, capable of hitting the ball with precision and power to any part of the field. Tatis Jr. stands shoulder to shoulder-with these remarkable players in terms of talent and baseball intelligence.

At only 24 years of age, Tatis Jr. still has a long way to go in his baseball career, and his potential for growth is immense. He has already proven himself as an exceptional player, and it will be exciting to witness his continued development. There is no doubt he is on par with those two superstars, and there's a real chance he could surpass them once his career is over.
