The Padres snagged their second-straight win after a mini-slump, but that wasn't the story of the day. Many fans much anticipated the return of Fernando Tatis Jr., and even though it wasn't eventful, all eyes were on El Niño.

Tatis Jr. is finally back to playing in the major leagues, and Padre fans couldn't be more than happy. The young righty slugger came off an 80-game suspension and is much needed for a Padres offense that is still not up to par. Nonetheless, it was great to see one of baseball's best back in the diamond performing with one of the best teams in the league.

Tatis' first game back was pedestrian. He went 0-5, struck out twice, lined out twice to each side of the field, and grounded out to shortstop. It's been a long time since he's faced major league pitching, so this was expected (at least I expected this); however, his defense was on point in right field.

The bat may not be there yet, but the glove certainly is. Regardless, fans were excited to have Fernando back with the squad with enough time left to get acquainted.

Fernando didn't have one memorable moment on offense last night, but that won't last long. Fans are ready to explode when he gets his first hit or home run and it will happen soon.

The 24-year-old superstar wants to contribute to this team as much as the fans want it. The power and speed will be displayed soon, Padre fans, don't you worry.
