Fans of the San Diego Padres cannot get Fernando Tatis Jr. back soon enough. It was originally believed that the team would be solid during his absence this year and that he would just be the cherry on top of one of the best slugging lineups in the league.

However, that just hasn't been the case. San Diego is currently playing some of their worst baseball when stepping up to the plate as they are 27th in the MLB in batting average and 21st in total hits. Their production is not what its been hyped up to be and their record shows it as they sit at 7-7.

Then you look at how El Niño is performing in the AAA as he completes the final stage of his suspension before retuning to the Friars and you cannot help but be excited. In six games with the El Paso Chihuahuas, he is slashing .478/.586/1.087 and has recorded 11 hits, eight runs, and four home runs. Tatis hit three of those home runs Thursday night against a former Padres pitcher in Logan Allen.

Allen was able to suit up for the Friars 2019 for eight games. He served as a relief pitcher and is currently playing in the minor league for the Albuquerque Isotopes as he tries to find his way back to a big league roster.

Tatis probably set his process back a bit with this game but he is just trying to heat up before he makes his long-awaited return. It is highly speculated that it could be April 20 against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Joe Musgrove could be joining him as well.
