The Padres recently lost one of their biggest bats, third baseman Manny Machado. Machado was placed in the 10-day IL and has not played since May 15th against the Kansas City Royals. San Diego has failed to win since then, and Machado's absence has much to do with that.

This setback comes at a challenging time for the Padres, as they have already been struggling since the start of the season. The absence of Machado's presence in the lineup has been keenly felt by the team, especially by their superstar Fernando Tatis Jr., who is a big part of the offesne and is just getting his feet under him after a long layoff.

Fernando spoke to Padres insider Kevin Acee and expressed how much Manny is missed.

“We’ve got to perform no matter what, because just the way we’re playing, but now even more,” Tatis said. “You lose a guy like that like that, you’re gonna feel it. Manny is one of the best players to ever play this game and we’ve just gotta hold that line until he comes back.”

The Padres' biggest struggle this season has been their performance with runners in scoring position. Unfortunately, San Diego has been one of the worst teams in the league in this area. With Machado now out of action, their offensive woes might worsen, as they lose a powerful bat capable of delivering crucial hits.

In the meantime, San Diego may need to find ways to shake things up in the lineup. They might consider shuffling the batting order and giving more opportunities to players who have shown potential but haven't yet performed consistently. This could help inject some fresh energy into the lineup and create new scoring opportunities.

The road ahead may be challenging, but with the right mindset and adjustments, the Padres have the potential to weather this storm and come out stronger on the other side. Hopefully, it won't take more than 10 days to get Manny back in the lineup.
