The early season starts continue for Padres lefty ace Blake Snell. Snell picked up his second loss of the season and is now 0-2 through three starts.

The Friars were unsuccessful in the rubber match against the New York Mets as they dropped the first game and this last game. The game was tied in the fifth inning at 2-2, and Mets first baseman Pete Alonso stepped up to the mound. The Polar Bear launched a four-seam fastball to the bleachers, and from there, the Mets didn't look back.

Snell spoke to Padres' insider AJ Cassavell and explained his process throughout that at-bat.

Snell was down in the count 2-0, and his first two pitches were also four-seam fastballs. Through his first three starts, Snell has a horrendous 6.92 ERA with 16 strikeouts and has only pitched 13 innings thus far.

For some reason, Snell cannot produce in the early part of the season. We're unsure what it is because if we did, we'd tell you why.

It's a bit concerning, but the former Cy Young winner has been prone to turn it around throughout the season. I'm confident Snell will do that again this season and just in time for postseason baseball.

However, it would be nice for Blake to turn it around sooner rather than later.
