The Padres and their fans rejoiced as their young superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. returned to the lineup last week. It was a much-anticipated return, and even though his first game didn't go too well, his other three were pretty solid.

Tatis came back for a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and in his first four games, the 24-year-old is already leading in two categories, one for his team and one in the entire league.

Fernando Tatis Jr.’s 14 batted balls in Phoenix had an average exit velocity 2.4 miles per hour above his career norm. At 95.7 mph, the average exceeds Major League Baseball’s average by 7.2 mph.

In running 83 feet Friday night to snare a flyball, Tatis covered 29.3 feet per second. The clocking matched his averages in two other seasons. By comparison the 28.2 marks of Jake Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim are the fastest among Padres regulars.

Fernando is hitting the ball hard, and he's very fast. After not playing in the league for almost 600 days, you'd think it would take him time to adjust to the speed of the game, but not for Fernando. This guy is a different breed, and he's showing that in his return.

There is a ton of baseball ahead for the Padres and Fernando; he's only going to get better, and because of that, the Padres are going to get better.

We could only imagine what else Tatis has under his belt for the rest of the season and beyond.
