Your San Diego Padres had themselves quite a weekend. They faced one of the best teams in the league, the Atlanta Braves, and took three out of the four games on the road. The first two games were decided by one run; in game three, the Frairs won by three runs, and Sunday's contest was not even close.

The Padres dominated in the series finale, 10-2, against a Braves team that was 6-1 at the start of the series on Thursday. The Padres collected 13 hits on ten runs, and everyone in the lineup contributed big time.

Padre superstars Manny Machado and Juan Soto did their thing, but the other guys came up huge, including DH Nelson Cruz, who had the game of his life. Cruz looked like the seven-time All-Star he once was, and it was great to witness for Padre fans.

After the game, Nelson spoke to Padres insider AJ Cassavell and said Sunday's performance showed how great this team can be.

“It shows how deep we are as a team,” Cruz said. “The commitment that we have to come and win three out of four against the Braves, it tells a lot.”

"Today, definitely, we showed up,” said Cruz. “It was nice to see the whole lineup do damage, score runs. Makes it fun.”

The Padres' first seven games were a bit rough as they went 3-4, but this team found something on Friday that helped catapult them to three straight wins. Nelson was a big reason for that on Sunday, as he went 3-4 with one home run, two runs, and 6 RBIs. The 42-year-old became the third oldest player to get 6 RBIs in a game.

It's still early in the season, but this is encouraging to see against a team they could see in October. A lot can happen from now to October, but you must love what you see from the Padres' side.

A message has been sent to the entire league; San Diego is a great team that can beat you in many ways with many pieces.
