The San Diego Padres went all in this past off-season when they signed the talented shortstop Xander Bogaerts to a major contract. At the beginning of the season, Bogaerts was an absolute powerhouse, smashing home runs and leading in numerous offensive categories for the Friars. However, recently his performance has taken a downturn, and it's hurt the team in a big way.

This decline could be attributed to a lingering issue with his wrist discomfort. Padres insider Kevin Acee revealed that the 30-year-old has been experiencing on-and-off discomfort in his wrist since spring training and possibly even before that.

Boagerts will be out of the lineup in their second game of three against the New York Yankees. Infeidler Ha-Seong Kim will take his spot at shortstop.

The severity of this issue will become clearer in the upcoming days or sooner as the team will closely monitor his condition. It is a challenging situation for both Bogaerts and the team, as they were counting on his offensive prowess to drive their success this season.

Although the team is optimistic about Bogaert's status, fans were quick to think of the worst.

In his past seven games, Xander was slashing an abysmal .172/.226/.276 with one home run, three RBIs, and 11 strikeouts in 29 ABs. You could say this is in line with his team's overall offensive numbers, as the Padres have struggled mightily in that department.

We hope he can get healthy soon and he returns to what we saw at the beginning of the season. Until then, the Padres and their fans anxiously await updates on his condition and eagerly anticipate his return to the lineup.
