After being out of the lineup since Saturday's win against the Cubs, Padres shortstop, Xander Bogaerts is looking to make a return when the team heads to Colorado.

Bogaerts, who has had a nagging wrist injury since spring training, is looking to get back into game action on Friday at Coors Field.

Despite setting the date to his return, Bogaerts is not completely sure he will come back in time.

"“I’m looking for Friday. That’s me. But if it won’t allow me, if it’s not where I want to be or where it’s supposed to be then it won’t be Friday. It sucks not being out there, watching games from the dugout.” (via San Diego Tribune)

Manager, Bob Melvin says that Friday should be a good target day for the shortstop to come back.

Before his injury, Bogaerts struggled in the first three games of June with an OPS of .417 with one RBI through 12 at bats.

On the season, Bogaerts has been solid, hitting .252 with 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and an OPS of .725.

Although Bogaerts had a rough start to June and is having a below average season for his standards, the shortstop position has had very little production with him out of the lineup.

In the four games that Bogaerts has been out, Ha-Seong Kim has taken over at shortstop.

Kim has hit .200 and has one RBI since he took over at the position this past week.

Bogaerts has been able to avoid the injury list, but if for whatever reason he needs to go on it, he is no longer able to back date the injury.

This means that he would have to spend the full 10 days on the IL.

Even though Bogaerts injury has been worrisome for the Padres this past week, it seems as tho the Friars will get their $280 million man back sooner or later.
