Padres Roster News: Friars Welcome Back Tim Hill Among September Call Ups
As MLB rosters expand from 26 to 28 for September, the Padres welcome some reinforcements to the team. First, lefty reliever Tim Hill returns from the injured list and rejoins the bullpen. And catcher/utility man Brett Sullivan provides some depth on the position player side of things.
Hill has been sidelined since late July with a finger issue on his pitching hand. He recently completed a quick two game rehab assignment with the Single-A then Triple-A clubs, shockingly allowing 5 runs on 7 hits with the Lake Elsinore storm last week. He rebounded to toss a perfect inning at El Paso before returning.
The veteran has a 4.22 ERA over 45 appearances this season.
Sullivan has been up and down a number of times with the Pads this season, ultimately getting into 21 games and posting a .170 average with a home run and 5 RBI.
