Phillies Superstar Bryce Harper Makes Surprise Appearance at Ohio State Game

Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper made a surprise appearance at the Ohio State football game on Saturday.

With the MLB offseason underway, baseball players have a lot more time on their hands now.

That includes Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper, who made the trip to Columbus, Ohio to attend Saturday's college football showdown between Ohio State and Minnesota.

Harper didn't attend OSU, but his wife Kayla did. She played soccer there and was with him on Saturday. Both were decked out in Buckeyes gear for the Big 10 rivalry matchup against the Golden Gophers.

Harper also did an interview for the Big Ten Network, where he revealed a bit more about his college football fandom and why he supports Ohio State.

Harper described himself as an "honorary" Buckeye, as he played baseball for the College of Southern Nevada before being drafted first overall by the Washington Nationals in 2010 at the age of 17. His wife Kayla graduated from Ohio State in 2015 but originally began her collegiate career at BYU before transferring as a junior in 2013.

Although Harper didn't attend Ohio State himself, you wouldn't know it based on how passionate he is about Buckeyes football. "I love this team, I love this university and I'm all about it, so it's a lot of fun," he said on the show.

Harper also admitted that he's a crazier fan than Kayla when they're watching the games at home.

"She's calm, she's good. I'm the lunatic. I sit on the couch and go nuts. But I love this team, I love the way they fight, I love the way they go about it," the superstar said.

Based on how much energy and passion Harper shows for the Phillies, that's not surprising at all.
