Philadelphia Phillies fans know how good their star catcher J.T. Realmuto is. That's one of the reasons why he's continued to be donned with the nickname "Best Catcher In Baseball" or "BCIB."
It's not just that he's productive at the plate, but it's more so what he does behind the dish.
Realmuto is one of the best at calling a game, taking pressure off the pitching staff as they all can trust what pitches he is telling them to throw at any given time.
That's why there was major concern a couple games ago when he had to leave early following getting hit in the throat by a pitch that bounced off the ground.
Known as one of the toughest guys in the sport, it's extremely rare that he ever doesn't finish a game.
He eased any worries that Phillies fans might have had when he returned for the following contest and was an integral part of them earning a hard-fought victory.
Realmuto's toughness was on full display again Friday night when he took a 98 MPH fastball right to his wrist.
In this instance, it looked like pitcher Yunior Marte and Realmuto got crossed up when the star catcher was expecting some sort of off-speed pitch and the ball coming home was a fastball.
As can be seen in the video, Realmuto was in considerable pain after he was drilled.
Anytime a wrist gets hit by a ball in this sort of fashion, injury concerns immediately come to mind as broken bones and contusions can come from instances like these.
But unlike the other night, Realmuto stayed in the game and finished things out.
It's just another reminder for Philadelphia fans everywhere that they truly have a one of a kind catcher who is playing on their team.
