Texas Rangers center fielder Travis Jankowski made a highlight-reel catch in top of the fifth inning Sunday against the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field.

Jankowski was playing center field to give Leody Taveras a day off. Taveras had some soreness after a collision with Seattle's J.P. Crawford at second base in Saturday's 16-6 win

Well, Jankowski was probably a bit sore after robbing Seattle's Mike Ford of a home run.

Ford came up with one out and the Rangers leading the game 7-0. Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi threw him a 1-1 splitter that he took to the right-center field gap toward the Rangers bullpen.

Jankowski had a lead on the drive from the start and tracked it all the way to the wall, where jumped up, made a backhanded catch and used his left side to brace himself against the fence padding.

Had Jankowski not made the catch, Ford would have put the Mariners' first run on the board.

The near-capacity crowd at Globe Life Field roared their approval, as Eovaldi gave a hearty show of emotion after seeing the catch.
