ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers are the highest-scoring team in baseball and they showed that off again Saturday.

The Rangers blasted four home runs, racked up 19 hits and routed the Seattle Mariners 16-6 at Globe Life Field to claim another series.

The American League West-leading Rangers (37-20) needed just two games to win their fifth consecutive series for the first time since 2018 and get in position to sweep their division rivals. Texas is also off to its best 57-game start ever and it’s easily the earliest in the season the franchise has ever been 17 games over .500.

The Rangers first teed off on rookie Bryan Woo, who was called up from Double-A to make his MLB debut in place of Marco Gonzales. Seattle’s previously-scheduled left-handed starter went on the injured list Saturday

Woo was tagged for three runs in each of the first two innings, ending his outing there. Corey Seager had run scoring hits in both frames, accounting for three runs. Jonah Heim also had a two-run double in the first.

The damage didn’t end early. Leody Taveras, Nathaniel Lowe, Marcus Semien and Mitch Garver all went yard in the later innings. The Rangers also lead the Majors with 15 double-digit scoring games.

Semien tied a career-high with four hits, adding four RBI and three runs. The second baseman extended his career-high hitting and on-base streak to 22 and 30 games, respectively.

Seager, Lowe, Heim and Garver also had multiple hits. The 19 hits set a season high.

The early outburst took the pressure off Texas starter Andrew Heaney, who nonetheless was off. After posting four straight quality starts – and six in the last season – the lefty struggled with his control and a high pitch count.

Heaney issued a season-high four walks and exhausted 78 pitches to get through three-plus innings. He was pulled after the first four Mariners reached in the fourth and was charged with three earned runs.

Texas’ Bruce Bochy also moved into a tie for 10th all-time in MLB managerial wins with Hall of Famer Walter Alston. Bochy owns a lifetime managerial record of 2040-2049, with Alston at Walter Alston at 2040-1613.

The Rangers activated Ezequiel Duran before the game to start in left field, with fellow utility man Brad Miller moving to the injured list.

The series ends Sunday afternoon with Nathan Eovaldi (7-2, 2.42) starting for the Rangers and Bryce Miller (3-2, 3.00) going for Seattle. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
