Diamondbacks Reportedly Interested In Pair Of Ex-Red Sox Sluggers To Bolster Lineup

An old friend might be headed to Arizona

Will the Arizona Diamondbacks try to sign a former Boston Red Sox fan-favorite?

The Diamondbacks are coming fresh off their second-ever World Series appearance and are looking to add some veterans to their young core -- reportedly in the shape of two former Red Sox.

"The Diamondbacks have internally discussed and have potential interest in both Justin Turner and J.D. Martinez for the designated hitter spot of their lineup." The Athletic's Jim Bowden reported on Monday evening.

Turner hit .276 with 31 extra-base hits including 23 home runs, 96 RBIs and a .800 OPS in 146 games for the Red Sox.

Martinez hit .271 with 29 extra-base hits including 33 home runs, 103 RBIs and a .893 OPS in 113 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Although Turner just turned 39 and Martinez recently turned 37, both former Red Sox sluggers have found success in the late stages of their respective careers and would be a valuable bat to any club.

Turner has been vocal about his love for playing in Boston but he most likely won't be back next season.
