Dodgers Reportedly Land Ex-Red Sox Utility Man After Inconsistent Season

It sounds like the Dodgers reportedly have landed a former member of the Red Sox

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to be the most active team in baseball.

Los Angeles has shocked the baseball world on multiple occasions already this offseason. The Dodgers entered the offseason looking to make a major splash after being upset by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Division Series.

The Dodgers have done just that by landing superstar duo Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto to massive contracts. Los Angeles also landed pitcher Tyler Glasnow and outfielder Manuel Margot in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.

While the Dodgers may be done making massive splashes, the club is still adding depth around the edges. Los Angeles reportedly did just that Tuesday as the club reportedly signed former Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Mets utility man Jonathan Araúz, according to Metsmerized Online's Mike Mayer.

"2023 New York Met Jonathan Araúz has signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers," Mayer said.

Araúz had an up-and-down season with the Mets in 2023. He made 27 appearances at the big league level with New York and hit three home runs, drove in nine runs, and slashed .136/.203/.288. Araúz appeared in 100 games at the minor league level with the Tripe-A Syracuse Mets and hit 14 home runs, drove in 53 runs, and slashed .239/.340/.415.

His numbers may not jump out on paper, but he can provide depth all over the field. He spent time at second base, shortstop, and third base with the Mets last season.

Araúz began his big league career with the Red Sox in 2020 and spent two-plus seasons with the club before joining the Orioles in 2022. Hopefully, he can get back on track with Los Angeles.
