Chances of Bryant playing Friday 'not good'
In addition to keeping the debate alive about whether Dahntay Jones' was a "#dangerousplay," Kobe Bryant continues to do what he can to return to the lineup. ... A team source told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne that Bryant's chances of playing against Indiana are "not good." Losing Bryant, the NBA's second-leading scorer, for an extended period would be costly for the Lakers (34-32), who own a half-game lead over the Utah Jazz for the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference. Bryant's frustration over the play and his injury was palpable Thursday when he tweeted, "17yrs. Countless fades. This has happened TWICE. Jalen and Now Ankle still very swollen. Treatment all day." Jets interested in adding Kolb
Mark Sanchez may soon have that much more competition for leading Gang Green's offense. A few days after the Jets signed veteran David Garrard, the Daily News learned that Kevin Kolb could be added to the team's crowded quarterback depth chart. Sources told The News Thursday that the Jets will be interested in the Cardinals quarterback at the right price. ... Kolb, who has had an uneven six-year career, is familiar with new offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg from their time together with the Eagles. Kolb, 28, worked with Mornhinweg from 2007-2010 and showed some flashes late in his tenure in Philadelphia that ultimately helped then-head coach Andy Reid land a second-round pick in a trade. Millville (N.J.) High naming field after Trout
The honor took merely a few years from the time he left. Millville High School's baseball field will soon be named after its most famous former player: 2009 graduate and 2012 American League Rookie of the Year Mike Trout. Millville baseball coach Roy Hallenbeck said Wednesday that the Millville Board of Education on Monday night approved a sponsorship deal that will include a $10,000 donation to the school for improvements to the field in conjunction with naming the facility after Trout. Hallenbeck said that officials hope to hold a naming ceremony later this spring but that the date and other details still were being finalized. ...
