Irish commit flushes Alabama mail in video
Apparently, Elijah Hood doesn't think very much of Alabama. The five-star running back from Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic, who committed to Notre Dame in April, tweeted a vine on Tuesday night of a letter marked with the Alabama logo being flushed down a toilet. "Dang," a voice says, "Nick Saban hooked your boy up. Roll Toilet." The addresses on the envelopes are handwritten, and neither Rivals.com, 247Sports nor Scout.com lists Hood with an Alabama offer. Hood, of course, isn't the only high school kid who's ever jabbed at rivals or said something he might later regret on Twitter. Former Auburn signee Zeke Pike sparred openly with Alabama fans after committing to the Tigers in 2011. (AL.com)Comment
Just how potentially damaging is this? This is worse than BALCO. That is not easy to do, seeing as the single-season and all-time home run records fell on account of Victor Conte's doping program that fed performance-enhancing drugs to baseball players of all manner and variety. But it is. It is much worse. The Biogenesis scandal that has ensnared baseball is more painful and embarrassing and harmful because it happened in the supposed post-Steroid Era, when Major League Baseball's drug policy was supposed to eradicate PEDs from the game. That was a fanciful notion to begin with, of course, but now that ESPN is reporting Biogenesis mastermind Tony Bosch is ready to flip and tell the league about Ryan Braun and Alex Rodriguez and upward of 20 others. Russell working out for Bears, Ravens and mystery team
Interest in JaMarcus Russell's comeback may, indeed, be on the rise. Despite what was an odorous, hugely failed attempt to become a professional quarterback, Russell has something few human beings possess -- a booming arm. ... CBSSports.com has confirmed an ESPNChicago report that the Bears are planning to work out Russell. Emphasis on planning. The workout hasn't been exactly set yet but it appears it will happen. A league source said at least three teams are interested in Russell -- the Bears and the Ravens are two of them, I'm told. USA Today first reported the Ravens' interest. I've also been told there is a third team -- the old mystery team -- and that team may be in the NFC West. (CBS Sports)Comment
