Tebow Nation awaits the answer. Will Tebow Time in New England officially begin Friday night when the Patriots face the Eagles in the exhibition opener? The team is playing coy, of course. Bill Belichick has not said how he plans to use his quarterbacks, or whether Tom Brady or Tim Tebow will even play. The Eagles announced Thursday that Michael Vick will start against the Patriots, and that Nick Foles will start their second preseason game. All that is clear is that Ryan Mallett figures to get a lot of action Friday night. After Thursday's walk-through practice, Tebow said he's not even sure he will get in the game. "I don't know, it's not something we've really talked about," he said. According to Tebow, Belichick told him, "Just be ready when your number is called." (The Boston Globe)Comment

Buss: Father could have kept Howard

Hindsight being 20/20, the Lakers can look back and wonder about the wooing of center Dwight Howard, which ultimately led to his signing in Houston. But Lakers executive vice president Jeanie Buss thinks one person had a chance -- her father, the late Dr. Jerry Buss. "They would've probably had a better relationship if my dad hadn't been sick," Jeanie Buss said in a wide-ranging interview with hosts Mark Willard and Mychal Thompson on ESPNLA 710 Thursday morning. "When it came time to try to convince Dwight to stay, we lost the best closer in the business in Dr. Buss. Putting up the billboard maybe wasn't the right thing.
