The name Michael Jordan will forever be feared in Boston as he averaged 30.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 56 games versus the Celtics. Even Larry Bird acknowledged this by saying “It’s just God disguised as Michael Jordan” after his 63-point playoff eruption.

However, it seems that a new “Boston killer” might have arrived in the Windy City and it is none other than the exciting second-year hometown hero – Ayo Dosunmu.

Ayo vs. Celtics

Even though it is a small sample size, the new Chicago Bulls’ starting point guard has shown great things in the four games he played against the C’s. The numbers that really stand out in this context are his 90% field goal and 100% three-point percentage. This is rounded off with 16 points, 4.3 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game in these four contests, according to StatMuse.

With career averages of 9 points, 3.3 assists, and 2.9 rebounds with 52 FG% and 38.7 3PT%, it is safe to say that Ayo seems to be very motivated when going against Boston. Of course, it is still too early to bring up MJ comparisons, but it is great to see that there is a player who shows no fear against the current Eastern conference champions.

Early-season performance

Dosunmu has a long way to go in his NBA career, but the fact he has been cemented as the new starter is already a great sign of how much confidence head coach Billy Donovan has in the 22-year-old Chicago native.

Even though the season is very young, he has already improved his stats in comparison to his rookie campaign which ended with a selection to NBA All-Rookie Second Team. The Bulls hope Ayo can maintain his improved three-point shooting percentage which, after four games, this season is at an impressive 50%.

For now, the young Bull can definitely be proud of what he is bringing to the team and remain focused on keeping them with more wins than losses, especially while star point guard Lonzo Ball is still sidelined with an injury.
