Coby White talks about his goals for this season: "The biggest thing is to just be more consistent"

White wants to keep things going in the right direction.

Chicago Bulls guard Coby White had his most efficient season last year and plans to use the momentum from that successful campaign to help propel the Bulls back into the postseason. With a brand-new three-year contract in his back pocket, the North Carolina native is looking to remain consistent on both ends of the floor.

“I just want to grow and continue to get better. The biggest thing is to just be more consistent. Play the same way day in and day out. Obviously, you're going to have bad nights here and there. Try to eliminate all the bad nights, especially the consecutive bad nights,” White said.

Keeping it steady

The former North Carolina Tar Heel knows the rep he had early in his career. While he accumulated stellar counting numbers, the efficiency and, most of all, the consistency wasn’t there. Last season, White dialed it back and played the least amount of minutes in his young four-year career.

It paid dividends, as he still made the most of his time on the court, showing improved shot-selection, defense, and playmaking skills, resulting in his best season so far.

“In my career, I've been labeled as an up-and-down player. And to a certain extent, that's kind of true. Some nights, you don't know which Coby you're going to get. So for me, I just want to be more consistent. And that started this summer with the mental approach,” White added.

Loyal to the cause

White has seen the lean years in Chicago and experienced the high of making the NBA Playoffs in 2022. Despite all the personnel changes through the last four years, White says it’s crazy to think he’s been with the Bulls through all the triumphs and turmoil.

“With all the changes, I'm still here, the team I got drafted to. When I sat back and actually thought about it and it sunk in, it was a crazy feeling. To look back on all the years and all the changes that's been made, I'm still here. I'm just excited to be back. Me and Zach, he's been with me every step of the way of my career, so I'm excited to be back with him too,” White added.
