Recapping The Cavs' Early Free Agency Moves
There's nothing like watching the clock strike 6:00 on the day free agency starts and immediately seeing the notifications light up your phone. It's pure chaos, but it's the kind of chaos that shows us why we love the NBA.
One of the teams that was very active early on in free agency was the Cleveland Cavaliers. They made a number of moves to bring back talent while us adding depth.
Caris LeVert
The first move that the Cavs quickly made after the official start of free agency was to bring back one of their cornerstones. They locked up Caris LeVert to a two-year $32 million deal.
LeVert has played two seasons with the Cavs and has averaged 12.4 points per game over 93 games. He was the most consistent player for Cleveland during last year's playoffs, despite their early exit.
Caris has been the ultimate team player playing the small forward, shooting guard, starter, and bench player. Having him back keeps Cleveland's depth strong.
Georges Niang
The new face that'll be in a Cavaliers uniform next season is Goerges Niang. The forward signed a three-year $26 million deal.
Niang brings exactly what Cleveland needs to their roster, three points shooting. He shot 40 percent from behind the arc last season on almost five attempts a night.
It would not be surprising if Niang started for the Cavs next season as the three, catching passes from Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell.
