Newest Clippers Player Breaks Silence on Joining Team

This was an unexpected roster move.

It's not often that an NBA team makes a roster move right before the NBA Playoffs, but that's exactly what the Clippers did this week. The team waived guard Josh Primo from the team and added forward/center Kai Jones.

After the Clippers finished their regular season against the Houston Rockets on Sunday, the team made Jones available to the media where he opened up about the new move.

“To be honest with you, this is the best opportunity of my basketball career," Jones said. "I’m super happy to be here, super grateful to have the opportunity, and glad that the organization sees something in me and trusts me to give me the chance to work my way back in and make the most out of this opportunity."

Throughout his availability, Jones was incredibly open about his journey with mental health and his emotional state. It was a very refreshing media session with a young player who is incredibly excited about joining a championship-contending team. From everything Jones said, he knows that he can fit well with the Clippers.

“For sure, I checked out the team a lot throughout the year," Jones said. "I see that I can be a lob threat, somebody that can cut from the corner, finish above the rim, and protect the rim as well. Like I’ve told him, but yeah that's what I see, a lot of high motor plays and playing hard.”

The LA Clippers face off against the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs on Sunday, April 21.
