2023 NBA Draft Lottery: Detroit Pistons Land No. 5 Overall Pick

During Tuesday’ NBA Draft Lottery, the Detroit Pistons found out what pick they will have in 2023 NBA Draft.

On Tuesday evening, NBA franchises encountered a momentous occasion with the potential to significantly impact their future. The top 14 picks of the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft, scheduled for June 22, were solidified at the draft lottery.

During an exciting event, the NBA unveiled the fortunate recipient of the coveted No. 1 overall pick and Victor Wembanyama, along with the remaining lottery positions.

The Detroit Pistons had the best odds entering the night, but ultimately landed the No. 5 overall pick.

Between now and the 2023 NBA Draft, the Draft Digest team will be breaking down prospects that could be available in the Pistons' range.

It was a disappointing result for Detroit, who after suffering the worst regular season record, fell to their lowest possible spot to No. 5.

Still, there will be a bevy of talented players to choose from around there, and with middling rebuilding teams in Charlotte and Portland hanging around at No. 2 and 3, respectively, a trade up is never out of the question.

Even more, the Pistons will be getting former No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham back into the rotation next year, which is cause enough for celebration.

Staying pat at No. 5, Detroit's most likely options are Houston's Jarace Walker, Central Florida's Taylor Hendricks or Villanova's Cam Whitmore.
