2023 NBA Draft Lottery: New Orleans Pelicans Land No. 14 Overall Pick

During Tuesday’ NBA Draft Lottery, the New Orleans Pelicans found out what pick they will have in 2023 NBA Draft.

On Tuesday evening, NBA franchises encountered a momentous occasion with the potential to significantly impact their future. The top 14 picks of the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft, scheduled for June 22, were solidified at the draft lottery.

During an exciting event, the NBA unveiled the fortunate recipient of the coveted No. 1 overall pick and Victor Wembanyama, along with the remaining lottery positions.

The New Orleans Pelicans had the worst odds entering the night, and ultimately landed the No. 14 overall pick. This isn't surprising, as earning the very last pick in the lottery was exactly where the Pelicans were projected to draft all along. For them, it could be about bringing in a player that can contribute immediately. When Zion Williamson is healthy, New Orleans is one of the better teams in the Western Conference. As such, a shooter could make sense at this spot.

It's unlikely that Gradey Dick falls to this spot, but other shooters like Jordan Hawkins and Kobe Bufkin should still be available at No. 14. If New Orleans can find a rookie that's ready to push for the playoffs, it will be a successful draft.

Between now and the 2023 NBA Draft, the Draft Digest team will be breaking down prospects that could be available in the Pelicans' range.
