At 6-foot-7 with innate passing and defensive ability, Arkansas guard Anthony Black has intrigued in the 2023 NBA Draft cycle.

With a strong March Madness performance, his stock could skyrocket.

We broke down the jumbo guard’s play in the latest video of the Heat Check series:

Averaging 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game as a freshman for the Razorbacks, Black has earned plenty of lottery buzz, but he could push even further into the top-ten under the right circumstances.

His skillset, while specific, is one that should immediately contribute to winning basketball.

Black isn’t the most comfortable scorer, but he can generate paint touches with some consistency, be it off cutting off-ball, driving and using the pick-and-roll.

But the skills getting him looks alongside the upper echelon of prospects are his passing, playmaking and defense.

He’s one of, if not the best, passers and playmakers in the class. He’s got great vision and can apply varying degrees of touch to fairly advanced passes.

Defensively, he’s great both on-ball and off-ball. He’s got a great motor, and functions well roving, jabbing and poking at the ball as a defensive playmaker.

He’s got plenty of work to do as an outside shooter, but hi combination of skills make him an intriguing fit on several teams selecting in the top of the 2023 draft.
