2023 NBA Summer League: Top Rookie Performers From July 13 Games

When looking back at the slate of games on July 13, these three rookies shined brightest in NBA Summer League.

Eight more games were played on Thursday in Las Vegas, as the final days of NBA Summer League begin to unfold. We're at a stage in which teams are looking to fight for a playoff spot, with quite a few teams still in the mix. As this all happens, some of the top individual talents have shined bright for their respective teams.

Which three rookies were the top performers in yesterday’s slate of games?

Cam Whitmore (Houston Rockets)

Cam Whitmore, Houston Rockets

26 Points | 5 Rebounds | 8 Steals

Whitmore hasn't been the most efficient this summer, but is an elite athlete that has put together productive performances. On Thursday, he notched eight steals which is extremely rare regardless of the level of play. He might take time to develop, but Houston should feel good about his upside moving forward.

Craig Porter Jr. (Cleveland Cavaliers)

Craig Porter Jr., Wichita State

22 Points | 8 Rebounds | 6 Assists

Although he wasn't selected in the 2023 NBA Draft, anyone that scouted Porter Jr. knows he has what it takes to stick in the NBA. A guard that can make an impact on both end, he's started to really get hot in Las Vegas. In Thursday's outing, he showed his scoring upside as well as the ability to facilitate and set up teammates.

Terquavion Smith (Philadelphia 76ers)

Terquavion Smith, NC State

20 Points | 3 Rebounds | 3 Assists

There's no question that Smith can score at will, especially in a summer league environment. Moving forward he'll also have to prove he can defend and facilitate to contribute at a high level, but in the meantime the scoring is impressive. Although he has a thin frame, Smith leverages his elite quickness to generate offense.
