With two first round selections in the 2023 NBA Draft and a bevy of other young, talented players, the Houston Rockets have made it all the way to the 2023 NBA Summer League final.

There’s been a variety of strong performances that have led the team to this point.

A 33-point performance, including a buzzer-beater from Jabari Smith Jr. in the team’s first game. A combined 85 points in their second game from Smith, Cam Whitmore and Tari Eason. Fifteen 3-point attempts from Trevor Hudgins that fueled Houston to a 13-point win over OKC.

And lastly, 26 and 25-point games from Whitmore in the team’s last two contests to make them 5-0.

Suffice to say, it’s been a team-effort to this point for Houston. But Whitmore, who was drafted at No. 20 in this year’s draft, has been among the more impressive performers overall.

On Sunday, Whitmore shot nine-for-19 overall and four-for-11 from beyond the arc to power the Rockets to a 14-point win over the Jazz and cement their spot in the final game. He also added a highly important four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in the process.

In the Rockets’ undefeated five-game slate, Whitmore averaged 20.4 points. He wasn’t always efficient, especially from 3-point land, but it’s been a promising start to the former Villanova wing, regardless.

On Monday, the Houston takes on Cleveland in the final game of what has been an extremely entertaining Summer League. The game tips off at 8 p.m. CT from Thomas & Mack Center.
