Draft Digest Rookie Ladder: Banchero, Mathurin Still in the Lead Following All-Star Break

In this story:
As we enter the home stretch of the season, Orlando’s Paolo Banchero and Indiana’s Bennedict Mathurin continue to lead the pack in the 2023 NBA Draft class.
Despite seeing a small slide just before the All-Star festitives, Banchero is still the favorite to take home the 2022-23 Rookie of the Year Award. He’s outright looked like the best rookie this season and has even looked like the best player on the court several times already in his debut year.
In 52 games, he’s averaging 19.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and just shy of one steal per game while shooting 42 percent overall and 28 percent from beyond the arc. Most impressively, he’s getting to the line 7.6 times per game and converting 75 percent of those shots.
Mathurin is hot on his heels averaging 17.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 60 games. The Canadian guard is currently listed at +6500 odds to win the 2022-23 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award.
Spots three through ten are much more up for grabs, currently. But there’s little time left for the NBA’s newest class to make their mark.
