In this story:
Each week, the Draft Digest team picks an NBA rookie from each conference as the best player of the week.
We're entering the final weeks of the season, as every game starts to carry more weight. While some rookies are on teams set to play in the postseason, others are just continuing to develop on rosters that are more geared towards the future.
In either situation, being a rookie that produces at a high level is impressive. As the regular season comes to a close, it's safe to say this rookie class has been as good as expected.
Who brought home the hardware this week?
Eastern Conference
Andrew Nembhard (Indiana Pacers)
Stats Since Last Week: 3 GP | 16.3 PPG| 6.0 APG | 55.6% 3PT | 56.8% FG
Nembhard capped off his week with a performance that included 25 points and 10 assists. He also knocked down a game clinching triple this week, as his impact on winning continues to be evident.
As it relates to second-round selections, he's definitely one of the steals of this class at this point. Especially on a young Pacers team, it's safe to assume he'll be part of the long-term core moving forward.
The passing upside is special for Nembhard, and coach Rick Carlisle has gotten the most out of the rookie.
Western Conference
Keegan Murray (Sacramento Kings)
Stats Since Last Week: 3 GP | 18.7 PPG| 5.3 RPG | 1.3 SPG | 41.2% 3PT
The Kings are headed to the postseason, with Murray being a huge part of their success all season. He knocked down 11 triples in a two-game stretch this week, showcasing his upside as a perimeter scorer. To this point in his rookie season, Murray has notched a 86 3PE and 77 DSI according to Cerebro Sports, getting it done on both ends.
Not only is a productive player, but Murray is very efficient overall. The rookie is the type of guy that can fit any situation, scenario and lineup which is beneficial for a team like Sacramento that will be trying to optimize lineups in the postseason.
Murray has been well worth the No. 4 overall pick to this point as he emerges as a cornerstone piece of the Kings' roster.
