Ignite Update: G League Next Up Game Proves Upside of Several Prospects

Since the inception of the Ignite program, the G League has become a more popular route for some of the top young talent in the world.
Although the team is struggling this season, the Ignite once again has a handful of players that will have the chance to get drafted this summer. Several prospects even had the opportunity to compete in Salt Lake City for NBA All-Star Weekend.
On Friday night, the four top Ignite prospects for the 2023 NBA Draft competed in the Rising Stars Challenge against 14 of the best rookies and sophomores at the NBA level.
Scoot Henderson, Sidy Cissoko, Leonard Miller and Mojave King got great experience and exposure in this Friday night event.

From there, those four as well as three others had the chance to play in the G League Next Up Game on Sunday afternoon, which took 24 of the best prospects at that level in what was essentially an All-Star game of younger players that either have could eventually play at the NBA level.
Henderson had his own team in this event and unsurprisingly looked like the best prospect on the court at all times. He finished with 19 points, six assists and four boards. Cissoko flashed the defensive upside he’s shown all season while producing six points as well as a pair of rebounds and assists.

A projected first-round pick, Miller once again used the big stage at All-Star Weekend to show why he’s one of the most intriguing forwards in this upcoming class. The 19-year-old has two-way upside and great size for a combo forward.

Finally, King showed off his smooth stroke in the event as he looks to get his 3-point shooting numbers back up upon returning to action following the break.
Outside of these four that competed in the Rising Stars Challenge, a few additional Ignite prospects competed on Sunday afternoon. Shareef O’Neal looked fantastic, as his defensive versatility was on full display.

Babacar Sane isn’t eligible to make the jump to the NBA until 2024, but produced 16 points and seven rebounds in an impressive outing. London Johnson is another prospected slated for the 2024 NBA Draft class that had the unique opportunity over the weekend of playing in this event. The flashy playmaker is someone to keep an eye on over the next year.
