NBA Draft Grades: Victor Wembanyama, Brandon Miller and Scoot Henderson

In this story:
Thursday night's draft was one for the ages.
From the surprise risers, to the big slippers, to Brad Stevens conjuring unlimited future second-round picks, the entire experience was unforgettable. The next generation stepped foot in the league last night, but which picks were better than others?
Let’s analyze each pick with a deeper lens and hand them out some letter grades:
First Overall Pick: A++
San Antonio Spurs: Victor Wembanyama
There isn’t all that much to discuss here. San Antonio earned this elusive grade on the night of the draft lottery.
They have now officially added the 7-foot-4 unicorn to their roster and their future looks very bright because of this. Wembanyana is set to break the game of basketball on both ends while gracing the Spurs’ black-and-white jerseys. He has some talented teammates to play off of him as well from Keldon Johnson to Devin Vassell to Tre Jones to Jeremy Sochan to Malaki Branham.
This grade is a no-brainer; the Spurs are the biggest winner of draft night and it is not remotely close.
Second Overall Pick: C+
Charlotte Hornets: Brandon Miller
This grade might seem kind of harsh. After all, Brandon Miller is a top-three prospect in this draft class in my opinion. However, he was taken with the second pick, and he is not the second best player in this draft class; that would be Scoot Henderson. This grade isn’t really a reflection on Miller as a player, it’s a reflection on how good Henderson is.
But Henderson isn’t the reality for Charlotte, so let’s focus on what Miller can do with the team. The 6-foot-9 forward can form a deadly duo with LaMelo ball as two lights-out shooters and handlers with size.
Still, Henderson could have opened new world of possibilities for the Hornets franchise, so this grade cannot pass the C range.
Third Overall Pick: A+
Portland Trail Blazers: Scoot Henderson
As I was just alluding to, Henderson is truly special.
The 6-foot-2 physical specimen can lead Portland’s next era and fulfill the massive shoes of Damian Lillard. Henderson, by virtue of his massive rim pressure, can facilitate for talented young shot-makers on the roster like Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe.
The future All-Nba point guard easily earns the Trail Blazers this high grade.
