Orlando Magic: Anthony Black Does it All in Summer League Debut

In this story:
The sixth overall selection in the 2023 NBA Draft, Anthony Black did a bit of everything in his Orlando Magic debut at 2023 Summer League.
Black was unable to power the Magic to a win — with the team ultimately falling to the Piston’s front court combination of Jalen Duren and James Wiseman — but he did manage an output of 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. It was a strong showing for any newbie, much less the No. 6 pick.
At Arkansas, Black made his name as a do-it-all jumbo guard, providing glue-like tendencies with a scoring punch highlighted by pick-and-roll prowess and foul-drawing tendencies. He averaged 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists for the Razorbacks.
His fit with the Magic so far has been seamless, as he shot seven-for-10 from the field and even hit one of his two triples.
The obvious improvement point for Black was his turnovers, as he had seven in the game. But all-in-all, the good far outweighed the bad.
Jett Howard, Orlando’s other 2023 selection, wasn’t quite as successful: scoring just eight points on three-for-13 shooting. Pistons top pick Ausar Thompson, who went just one pick before Black, poured on seven points, nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal.
