Prospect Profile

A three-year college player, Murrell has clearly improved each season. As a junior at Ole Miss, he led the team in both points and assists as he emerged as the team’s best offensive weapon.

At the next level, he projects to be a quality perimeter shooter that has an NBA-ready frame. Despite shooting just 33.5% from deep in his college career to this point, there’s reason to believe he’ll be much more efficient moving forward. He’s got a smooth, quick release that looks really good. His best season from beyond the arc was a sophomore, when he knocked down 38.6% of his triples. He also shot nearly 85% from the free throw line which is also directionally promising.

Again, Murrell led the team in assists last season but isn’t necessarily an elite playmaker for others. He certainly has passing upside but will likely be more of an off-ball guard at the next level. He’s strong and athletic which also has allowed him to be effective defensively. At 6-foot-4 Murrell isn’t the most versatile defender, but he’s good within a scheme and plays with physicality at the point of attack.

The former four-star recruit out of IMG Academy has taken some time to really develop into an NBA talent, but he’s absolutely worth a look from every team in the pre-draft process. After dropping out of the process leading up to the 2023 NBA Draft, he could be a big riser returning to school one more season before making the jump in the 2024 NBA Draft. He tested extremely well at the combine and looked great at pro day last time around.
