Memphis Police Department Makes Statement on Shooting Near Grizzlies Arena

There was a shooting near the Memphis Grizzlies arena

In an article from Fox 13 Memphis News, the following was reported on Friday:

“Two of three men who were taken into custody after a shooting Friday night outside FedExForum have been identified. A chaotic scene started to unfold when a group of men approached another man, identified later as Miciah Warren, on Dr. MLK Jr. Avenue near Beale Street and started firing shots as they chased him in Downtown Memphis, according to court documents.”

The shooting reportedly occurred around the time the Memphis Grizzlies were beginning their game vs. the Detroit Pistons. Memphis Police Department released a statement on the incident that read the following:

“The men and women of the Memphis Police Department continue to work diligently to create a safe environment downtown for our residents and visitors alike. It was with this heightened vigilance that MPD officers quickly responded to a shooting incident involving three individuals that occurred yesterday evening near Ida B. Wells Drive. All three suspects involved in the incident were quickly apprehended by MPD officers. The men and women of the Memphis Police Department continue to work diligently to create a safe environment downtown for our residents and visitors alike. It was with this heightened vigilance that MPD officers quickly responded to a shooting incident involving three individuals that occurred yesterday evening near Ida B. Wells Drive. All three suspects involved in the incident were quickly apprehended by MPD officers.”
