Desmond Bane Throws Shade at Rui Hachimura After Game 1

Desmond Bane wants to see Rui Hachimura play that well in another game.

Rui Hachimura absolutely destroyed the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1. He led the entire Lakers team in points, scoring 29 points off the bench against the Grizzlies.

Hachimura was one point away from his career high of 30 points, and also became the first Laker since Magic Johnson in 1996 with 25 points off the bench in a playoff game. Even though Hachimura didn't score his career high in points, yesterday was arguably the greatest game of his career - Desmond Bane agrees.

When Desmond Bane was asked about Hachimura's performance against the Grizzlies, Bane threw some slight shade toward Hachimura.

“I mean, that was our gameplan going in," Bane said. "Make him hit shots and you know, he did. You know, tip your cap. It’s probably the best game of his career. "It’s a seven-game series. Let’s see if he can do it again Wednesday.”

The Memphis Grizzlies have multiple things to adjust entering Game 2, beyond just game-planning for Rui Hachimura. The team couldn't secure rebounds, had Dillon Brooks shoot way too many threes, struggled way too hard to get easy shots in the paint, and turned the ball over far too much. They have to both solve the defensive issues Anthony Davis presents, and not allow role players like Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura to explore. It's truly going to be a tough task for the Memphis Grizzlies to accomplish while severely shorthanded, and potentially missing Ja Morant.
