NBA Insider Reveals Expectation for Ja Morant’s Suspension

Things don't look very good for Ja Morant.

Everyone expects Ja Morant to face a severe punishment for brandishing a weapon for the second time on Instagram Live, but no one really knows what exactly that punishment will be. The NBA's leading insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, has an idea of what that may be.

Wojnarowski was on ESPN where he discussed what the expectations of Ja Morant's punishment could be.

"Adam Silver was very intentional with his words last night," Wojnarowski said. "It does not bode well for Ja Morant. Listen, I think when you start to look at possible lengths of suspension, and that's what we're talking about. He's going to be suspended. I think an interesting number to look at is 17. Because now the NBA at its disposal has a new rule that a player has to play 65 games in the regular season to be eligible for post-season awards. So, for Ja Morant, 17 games off the top would immediately make him ineligible for post-season awards."

One thing that's worth noting is that it's very clear to see that Adam Silver is personally hurt by Ja Morant's decision-making this time around. Silver gave Morant a chance to redeem himself, and instead, he chose to do the exact same thing over again. As a result, Wojnarowski thinks Silver will make it a point of emphasis not to go easy this time.

"No one is going to be able to say this time, 'Hey Adam, you went too lightly on Ja Morant.' Wherever that number lands, I think it's going to be certainly a significant part of the Grizzlies' season."
