Toronto Raptors Sign Former Memphis Grizzlies Player

The Toronto Raptors have signed a new player.

According to Shams Charania, the Toronto Raptors have signed a new guard.

The Toronto Raptors have reportedly signed guard Kobi Simmons to a 10-day contract. Simmons started his career with the Memphi Grizzlies in the 2017-18 NBA season, where he played 32 games and started 12 times. With the Grizzlies, Simmons aveaged 6.1 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 rebounds on 42/28/100 shooting.

After his time with the Grizzlies, Simmons then played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Charlotte Hornets. Throughout his NBA career, Simmons averaged 5.3 points, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 rebounds on 41/27/100 shooting. In the G League, Simmons averaged 15.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.2 rebounds for the Raptors 905 team.

It's tough to say whether or not Kobi Simmons will get a ton of playing time with the Toronto Raptors, but he'll certainly have an opportunity with the team. Toronto isn't looking to make a serious playoff push and is looking to find younger attractive pieces for the years to come. Simmons has the capability to be a decent scorer as a shooting first point guard, but he definitely needs to improve his shooting percentages - especially from three.

As a young 26 year old, this won't be the laste opportunity for Kobi Simmons, but he's received numerous chances now at this point. Hopefully, the former Memphis Grizzlies guard can make it work with the Toronto Raptors.
