Miami Heat's Defense Shines By Slowing LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers

The Miami Heat held LeBron James to just 12 points on 6 of 18 shooting

It is a rarity for LeBron James doesn't speak with the media following games.

He left the arena without talking after Wednesday's loss to the Miami Heat, which may have been a sign of his disappointment. The Heat held James to just 12 points on 6 of 18 shooting in a 110-96 victory on the road.

James went 0 for 6 from the 3-point line and was a -20 plus/minus in 38 minutes. It was arguably the worst game of the season for the NBA's all-time leading scorer. His point total and 33 percent shooting from the field were his lowest of the year.

James has generally dominated when facing the Heat, the team he helped win two titles in four NBA Finals appearances from 2010-14. He's averaged 28.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.9 assists on 49 percent shooting in 44 games against the Heat.

James had 30 points in their last meeting Nov. 6, 2023.

The Heat overall had a strong defensive effort despite playing another game without Jimmy Butler, who is still dealing with a calf injury. They held the Lakers to 4 of 30 shooting from the 3-point arc. They also forced 22 turnovers, including 15 in the first half to help build the lead.

The effort was a perfect way to bounce back from Monday's disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Heat conclude their West Coast road trip Friday at Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns
