Detroit Pistons vs. Miami Heat: Bam Adebayo’s Injury Status

In this story:
As the Miami Heat search for their first win in over a week, they face a lot of questions in the health department heading into their matchup with the Detroit Pistons on Friday night.
Along with a handful of other players, the Heat have downgraded their star center, Bam Adebayo due to a back contusion.
The good news for Miami is that Adebayo’s status is probable, signaling a good chance he’ll get the opportunity to face the Pistons in Detroit, but they can’t be so sure as of Friday morning.
Lately, Adebayo has been healthy and available for Miami. The last time the veteran big man missed a game was back on December 16 when the Heat picked up a win against the Chicago Bulls. At the time, Adebayo was out for a stretch that extended seven games. On December 18, he returned to the lineup.
Since then, Adebayo has been one of Miami’s most available players. Leading up to Friday’s game, he has appeared in nearly 40 straight games. Over the previous 39 games, Adebayo has averaged 35 minutes on the court.
During that time, Adebayo produced 19 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block per game. He is producing 50 percent of his field goals.
The last time the Heat and the Pistons faced off, Adebayo checked in for 35 minutes. Putting up 17 shots, he found success on 47 percent of his attempts and scored 18 points. On the glass, Adebayo collected seven rebounds. The Heat defeated the Pistons for the second time this season.
Since that early March matchup in Detroit, the Heat have struggled to churn out a win. Going into Friday’s game, Miami holds a four-game losing streak. Once again, they’ll roll shorthanded, as several players, including Tyler Herro, Kevin Love, and Josh Richardson, have been ruled out against the Pistons.
The Heat and the Pistons are set to tip off at 7 PM ET.
