With just four days to go until the NBA trade deadline arrives, more rumors continue to surround the Utah Jazz and the uncertainty surrounding which route they'll take with this roster. While a lot of the commotion encircling this team has been around the idea of being a seller on the market, CEO Danny Ainge may have something different in mind.

According to a report from Matt Moore of Action Network, the Jazz are among teams active in the trade machine ahead of the deadline, generating some notable interest in Brooklyn Nets' star Mikal Bridges:

"The Jazz are active in the market, with Jordan Clarkson, Kelly Olynyk and Collin Sexton routinely described as available assets. Interestingly, the talks suggested by sources are not for future draft capital. The Jazz, sources say, called the Nets to inquire about Mikal Bridges, though they found the same impossibly high bar to clear in return. Utah seems to be pursuing upgrades to the roster and not rebuilding moves."

While the report seems to note the talks were unable to get too far without being hit with an absurdly high asking price to meet, it does detail how the Jazz may approach the coming days before the deadline. Instead of shedding off valuable pieces for future assets, this front office may have more interest in buying talent to help make a push further into the standings this season.

Bridges has been a strong piece for the Nets during his 2023-24 campaign. He's averaged 21.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists on 45.5/37.1/82.4 splits. He would be a perfect two-way option on the wing for this Jazz team, but acquiring the services of the six-year league vet will be easier said than done. Reports from Moore tell us Brooklyn has even declined previous offers with five first-round picks, so they won't be letting up easily.

Things are always fluid around this time, so stay tuned for any further developments connecting the Jazz and the Nets. However, if there's one thing to take away from this, it's that Utah won't be sitting on their hands in the days ahead of February 8th.
