Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James just weighed in on the news that Twitter CEO Elon Musk will remove blue verification checkmarks, in a desperate effort to make already-confirmed legitimate accounts pay to doubly confirm their identities.

Twitter has lost 89% of its advertising revenue since Musk bought the company for the whopping sum of $44 billion.

James revealed how he felt about the whole situation, and indicated that he was not going to fork up the cash for the blue checkmark.

This situation is made all the more funny by the fact that it was recently revealed James numbers among of 35 secret "VIPs" favored in the new, unimproved Twitter's algorithm. So even though Musk gives James preferential treatment, that's still not enough for James to fork over the cash.

Look for a rash of Twitter trolls and Musk groupies to gobble up the verified checkmarks, as the legitimate accounts lose theirs. Once it can no longer be confirmed that any famous or influential figure or account is who they claim to be, I'd assume those kinds of people will leave the platform in droves. This will make NBA journalism a bit of a sticky situation, too, as it will be tough to confirm an actual Adrian Wojnarowski or Shams Charania news drop now.

We can fully expect someone to buy a blue checkmark, impersonate James' account, and tweet some nonsensically irresponsible stuff. The last time that happened, the faux LeBron account was quickly banned.

Twitter is dead, friends. Long live Twitter.
