Denver Nuggets Coach Reveals Injury Update on Star Player

The Denver Nuggets are being careful with Jamal Murray

Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray has missed the last two games with an ankle injury. The team is trying to be very careful with their star point guard, which is something Nuggets head coach Michael Malone addressed on Monday night when giving an injury update on Murray.

“When you couple the ankle with the shin splints and the knee, he’s dealing with a lot,” Malone said of Murray, per The Denver Post.

On a possible timetable for Murray, Malone added, "We’re not going to rush him back. When Jamal feels like he’s able to go out there and play his game, then he’ll be back with us.”

Murray has dealt with a lot of lower body injuries over the last few seasons, and the ankle issues have been especially prevalent for him this season. Understanding that they cannot repeat as champions unless Murray is healthy and available in the playoffs, the Nuggets are not going to rush him back for any regular season games, even amid a seeding battle.

What is great about the Nuggets, is that they have a lot of other players who can step up, which is something backup guard Christian Braun noted on Tuesday.

"We’re still approaching each game the same way," Braun said, per AP. "That’s the good thing about this organization. We try to win every game. Guys aren’t sitting, guys aren’t throwing games. We’re going out here to win every game. We’re playing the right way, no matter who’s on the court.”
