Denver Nuggets Star Reacts to Brother's Betting Investigation
Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. spoke on his brother's investigation
Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter, the brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr., is currently being investigated by the NBA for betting irregularities involving himself.
Asked about this on Wednesday night, Porter Jr. told reporters, "I know what you guys know. I know Jontay loves the game of basketball. He's been really excited to play with the Raptors, so I know just as much as you guys know at this point. I have known my brother my whole life, I know what type of dude he is, I know he's excited to play basketball, and highly doubt that he would do anything to put that in jeopardy."
On the rise of sports betting, Porter Jr. added, "It's a part of the game now. I think that it's obviously a dangerous habit. It's a dangerous vice for people. The love of money is the root of all evil, so I think that even though it is a thing, we as players just have to accept that. We get paid a lot of money to play this game and I know these people, these fans, they want to make some money, as well."
Porter Jr. added that players end up disappointing one group of people regardless of their performance, since some people bet over and some bet under, which is another interesting dynamic.
