Nikola Jokic's Honest Statement on Kevin Durant After Nuggets vs. Suns
Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic spoke on Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant
The Phoenix Suns have an incredibly difficult remaining schedule, but they are motivated to move up the Western Conference standings. Defeating the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night, Phoenix again proved they have the talent to compete with anybody. Kevin Durant was fantastic in this game, and received high praise from Nikola Jokic.
Speaking with reporters after the game, Jokic said, "He's a great scorer, great shooter, even on the defensive end he had a couple blocks that disturbed our offense, too... I think he was getting the shots that he wants, the shots that he can make. Maybe we could do something different, maybe not."
Making sure to credit Durant's defense, Jokic mentioned the blocked shots he had, which were very impressive. While everyone knows about Durant's offense, his ability to protect the rim is very unique for somebody who plays his position, as his length is a real factor on defense.
The Suns are trying to stay out of the play-in tournament, and potentially climb all the way to the fourth seed. While that would be a very unlikely scenario, it is seemingly the highest Phoenix can climb at this point.
The play-in tournament projects to include a lot of very talented Western Conference teams, which is even more reason for Phoenix to try to avoid it. This win against the Nuggets not only helps Phoenix in the standings, but it is a big momentum boost for a team that needs it down the stretch.
